About Effie
Effie is from a little village on the Beara Peninsula in West Cork.
My grandma taught me my first song, “You Are My Sunshine,” when I was five years old.
My brother gave me my first “Chord” guitar for Christmas, which gave me the inspiration to pick up the instrument.
At the age of fourteen, I was hired for my first job in Kilgarvan’s O’Reilly Bar.
After that, my career began to progressively take off.
My mother Catherine invited me to join her in her business, and I occasionally accompanied her to weddings and funerals.
I competed in the Cowboys and Heroes competition in County Leitrim in June 2023, and I won the festival 2023 and the award was the opportunity to record a single “Country is the Best” written by Niall O’Brien which peaked at number one on the Irish country charts, was my debut song.
My career in Irish country music was launched on October 2023, with a sold-out Village Inn in Enniskeane, County Cork.
I am excited about 2024 because there are several amazing projects in the works.
I can’t wait to see you all at a gig this year. Since then Effie has released two further singles ‘The Craic Is Always 90’ again written by Niall O’Brien and ‘The Island’. Effie has also recorded a total of 4 videos and brand new single will be released in a couple of weeks.
